What Is Clear Coat Touch Up Varnish?

A 40 ml brush-on clear coat that seals and protects your touch-up paint repairs. Apply it over our Touch Up Paint to add a glossy, showroom-quality finish and a durable barrier against scratches, UV rays, and weathering. One bottle covers dozens of small repairs and is the final step in the Pinelaki DIY repair chain used by customers across Cyprus since 1991.

Features & Benefits

  • Glossy finish: Restores showroom-quality shine to repaired areas
  • Protective layer: Shields touch-up work from scratches, fading, and weathering
  • Precision brush: Built-in applicator targets small areas without overspray
  • Fast drying: Simple application, dries in minutes
  • Extends repair life: Maximises the durability of your touch-up work

How to Apply

  1. Repair: Clean and repair the damaged area using matching touch-up paint.
  2. Wait 10 minutes: Let the touch-up paint dry completely.
  3. Apply clear coat: Brush a thin, even layer over the repaired area.
  4. Blend edges: Gently feather the edges for a seamless, invisible finish.

How Do I Achieve a Seamless, Invisible Finish?

Three details separate a pro-looking touch-up from one that screams "repaired":

  • Keep a wet edge. Work in small sections and do not let one side of the varnish dry before you feather it into the next. A dry edge creates a visible line where the old clear coat meets the new.
  • Stroke outward, not back-and-forth. Brush from the centre of the repair toward the undamaged surrounding paint. Short, light strokes blend better than long, heavy ones.
  • Stay slightly inside the paint boundary. The clear coat should sit over the colour, not extend far past it. Over-extending creates a halo around the repair when light hits at an angle.

Can I Polish the Repair After It Cures?

Yes, and polishing is what takes a good repair to an invisible one. Wait at least 48 hours for the clear coat to cure. Wet-sand lightly with 2000–3000 grit paper to level the edge where the clear coat meets the factory paint, then hand-polish with a fine rubbing compound followed by car polish. Work in small circles with light pressure — you are only removing the clear coat you just applied, not the underlying factory layers. A final wax seals everything and restores depth.

1K vs 2K Clear Coat — Which Do I Need?

This product is a 1K formula — no mixing required, long shelf life, perfect for small touch-up repairs. For larger spray-painted areas, we offer two spray options:

Note: 1K formula may be susceptible to strong solvents (thinners, industrial liquids). Avoid direct contact with these substances.

How Should I Store the Bottle Between Uses?

Wipe the bottle neck and brush clean of excess varnish before recapping — dried residue on the threads prevents a tight seal and the contents thicken within weeks. Store upright in a cool, dark place (ideally 10–25°C). Avoid the glove box in summer; interior temperatures above 40°C accelerate degradation. Kept properly, the varnish remains usable for 12–18 months after opening.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use this without touch-up paint underneath?

This product is designed as a top coat over touch-up paint. It does not contain colour — it adds gloss and protection to an existing repair.

How long should I wait before applying clear coat?

Wait approximately 10 minutes after applying touch-up paint. The paint should be dry to the touch but not fully cured. Waiting too long (hours or days) weakens the bond between layers.

Is one bottle enough for multiple repairs?

Yes. At 40 ml, one bottle covers dozens of small scratch and chip repairs across your vehicle.

Will the clear coat yellow over time?

Our 1K varnish is UV-stabilised and holds a true clear tone for years under Cyprus sun conditions. Yellowing typically only appears if you apply excessively thick coats or if the underlying paint was not allowed to cure before sealing. Stick to thin, even layers and cure times and the varnish stays clear.

When should I use this instead of a clear coat spray?

Use this brush-on varnish for small, localised repairs: stone chips, scuffs, edge dings, and scratches under 2 cm. For anything larger — a full panel blend or bumper touch-up — the 1K spray or 2K spray gives a more uniform finish without brush marks.
