What Is Touch Up Paint?
Touch up paint is a custom-mixed 35 ml bottle with a built-in brush cap that lets you fix minor scratches and chips in minutes. Each bottle is mixed to your car's exact factory colour code for an invisible repair. Pinelaki has been colour-matching paint since 1991 — over 35 years of experience behind every bottle.
How Does It Work?
- Find your paint code — check the sticker on your door jamb, under the bonnet, or in the boot. Not sure? Text us on WhatsApp or Viber at +357 99 228438 and we'll help.
- Place your order — select your car brand from the dropdown and enter the paint code. We mix it fresh.
- Apply — shake the bottle, brush on the paint, let it dry for 10 minutes.
- Seal with clear coat — for the best finish, apply our Clear Coat Touch Up Varnish on top. It adds gloss and a protective layer.
How Do I Prep the Surface for Best Results?
Proper surface prep is the difference between a visible blob and an invisible repair. Before you open the bottle:
- Wash and degrease. Wash the damaged area with car shampoo, rinse, and dry. Then wipe with isopropyl alcohol or a wax-and-grease remover to strip residue. Fresh paint will not bond over wax, silicone, or oily fingerprints.
- Deal with any rust. If bare metal is showing inside the chip, sand the spot gently with 1500–2000 grit wet sandpaper until the rust is gone. Wipe clean and let it dry fully before painting.
- Feather the edges. A scratch with sharp, raised edges reflects light differently than the surrounding paint. Gently smooth the edges with fine sandpaper so the repair sits flush.
- Work in the shade at 15–25°C. Direct sun causes the paint to flash-dry on top while the layer below is still wet, leading to a cloudy or pitted finish. Low humidity and gentle airflow give the cleanest result.
What Brands Do You Cover?
All of them. We mix paint for every major car and motorcycle brand — from Abarth to Zenvo. Ford, Toyota, BMW, Mercedes, Ferrari, Hyundai, Kia, Nissan, and hundreds more. If it has a colour code, we can match it.
What Are the Most Common Mistakes to Avoid?
After 35 years of helping DIY customers across Cyprus, these are the mistakes we see most often:
- One thick layer instead of 2–3 thin ones. Thick coats sag, trap air bubbles, and take days to cure. Thin layers dry evenly and look cleaner.
- Skipping the clear coat. Without clear coat varnish on top, UV rays dull the repair and water seeps in. Expect visible fading within 1–2 years.
- Eyeballing the colour code. Colour codes are alphanumeric for a reason — a single character difference is a different shade. Always verify from the factory sticker, not from memory.
- Washing too soon. Fresh touch-up paint needs about 7 days to fully cure. Avoid automatic car washes, pressure washers, and waxing during that window.
When Should I Choose Professional Repair Instead?
Touch-up paint excels on stone chips, edge dings, and clear-coat scratches under 2 cm. Beyond that — long scratches, deep gouges exposing primer, or damage across an entire panel — a professional repair gives a visibly better result. Read our guide on when DIY touch-up paint is enough and when it's not for a cost comparison and honest advice. For borderline cases, send us a photo via WhatsApp and we'll tell you honestly which route will look better.

Frequently Asked Questions
Where do I find my car's paint code?
The paint code is usually on a sticker on the driver's door jamb, under the bonnet, or in the boot. It's a short alphanumeric code (e.g., "LY9T" for VW, "300" for BMW). Check our paint code blog guides for brand-specific instructions, or send us a photo of your door sticker on WhatsApp at +357 99 228438.
How much paint do I need?
One 35 ml touch-up bottle covers multiple small scratches and chips. For larger areas (a full panel or bumper), use our 400 ml spray can instead.
Do I need clear coat on top?
We strongly recommend it. Our Clear Coat Varnish adds gloss, UV protection, and makes the repair last years longer. Apply it 10 minutes after the paint dries.
How long does delivery take in Cyprus?
Orders are mixed and dispatched within 1–2 business days. Akis Express delivery typically takes 1–3 additional days across Cyprus.
How long does the paint last after I open the bottle?
If you cap the bottle tightly and store it somewhere cool and dark, expect 12–18 months of usable paint. Once it thickens or shows pigment separation that vigorous shaking cannot restore, it's time for a fresh bottle. Always test on an inconspicuous spot before applying to visible damage.
Can I apply touch-up paint over surface rust?
Only after the rust is removed. Paint applied over active rust traps moisture underneath and the rust keeps spreading — the repair will fail within months. Sand the rust away with 1500–2000 grit paper until you see clean metal, wipe with isopropyl alcohol, then apply the touch-up within the hour before fresh oxidation starts.
